Biophilic Evidenced Based Design for Education



Summary
The principles of biophilic design offer power design tools that help industry professionals make better design decisions using quantified evidence based design practices. Because biophilic design is a relatively new concept, additional knowledge and guidance is required to effectively implement and leverage this design concept. We invite you to go from passive designs to active, nature inspired designs that can positively impact building occupant health and wellness. In this session, we will cover the intertwining principles of biophilic and evidence based design and walk you through examples demonstrating how these principles provide value to building occupants as well as provide you with best practices and tools to effectively leverage these principles for achievement of building rating system such as LEED and WELL.

Learning Objectives:
· Identify how biophilic design principles can positively impact the health and wellness of building occupants.
· Explore how biophilia can reduce stress and improve well-being.
· Discover how evidence-based design supports health-related outcomes.
· Explain how flooring and biophilic design contribute to wellness criteria in building rating systems.
